Mrs. Mary J. McCollough — 1922-2019

Mrs. Mary J. McCollough, 97, of Valley, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at the EAMC Lanier Hospital in Valley.
Mrs. McCollough was born in Tallapoosa County on Aug. 14, 1922, to the late William Carey Jackson and Alice Cordelia Powell Jackson.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John E. McCollough, Sr.; daughter, Patricia D. McCollough; siblings, Gladys Woodruff, Vertis Truett, Ludy Meigs, Woodrow Jackson, Heflin Jackson, Howell Jackson, Hilson Jackson, Braxton Jackson, and William Jackson.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lanett. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
She is survived by two sons, John (Bobby Ann) McCollough, Jr., L.J. (Diane) McCollough; grandchildren, Derek McCollough, Stacey (Greg) Elmer, Jared (Deanna) McCollough, Mandy (Bryan) Johnson, Matt McCollough; great-grandchildren, Gavin McCollough, Mallorie McCollough, Van Elmer, C.J. Johnson, Lainey Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment in Resthaven Cemetery. The Reverend David Bradshaw officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. EST until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her memory to Chattahoochee Hospice.
