Ringing in the new year

Anyone who played high school sports knows that those memories will last you a lifetime. Athletics — especially in moments of victory — resonate with us and impact more than just the scoreboard.
Not many of us got to experience a state championship, but anyone who did will never forget it.
We’re sure the Lanett Panthers’ football team will never forget what it accomplished in 2019, ending the year with the 1A state championship.
The school wants to buy the team’s football players and coaches championship rings to remember the special season.
We believe they are well-deserved after an incredible year.
The problem is cost.
The total cost is expected to be between $12,000 to $15,000, which is a large expense for anyone, but especially a small school system like Lanett.
The team is asking for the community’s help in paying for state championship rings, and we’re sure many locals will do their part to help out.
We encourage anyone with the means to do so — especially if you’re a Lanett alumnus or a big Panthers fan — to give.
Every dollar helps, and the Panthers’ players have earned it.
Donations can be made by business check, money orders, cash or online payments.
They can be made by mail, by sending the money to Lanett High School located at 1301 South 8th Ave, Lanett, AL 36863.
