Man with local ties killed in accident

A former Valley resident died in a traffic accident on Sunday in Elmore County.
Scot Guy Angus, 61, of Wetumpka was riding a bicycle on the roadway when he was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Angus was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The accident occurred on Alabama 143 near mile marker 16, which is near Deatsville. The accident remains under investigation.
One man is dead after a police-involved shooting Monday morning on Turner Street in LaGrange.
According to a news release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, a LaGrange officer responded to an unknown problem at the Tall Pine Apartments, located at 150 Turner Street in LaGrange.
LaGrange officer Megan Keith arrived at the scene at about 1:15 a.m. According to the GBI report, she learned that Jazmen Glanton, 29, was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Phatrial Simms, 25.
Simms’ brother Patrick Reeves, 19, reportedly called 911. At about 1:19 a.m., Keith witnessed Reeves shoot Glanton.
Keith gave verbal commands to Reeves and then shot him in the arm.
Glanton was taken to the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center and was later pronounced deceased.
Reeves was taken to an Atlanta-area hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. As of Monday, there have been no arrests or charges filed, according to GBI. The GBI is investigating the incident at the request of the LPD because of the officer-involved shooting.
