The City of Valley Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. EST at city hall. On the agenda will be a request to re-zone property at 1080 Mapp Road from R-2 to R-4. For further information, contact Travis Carter at 334-756-5249.
The 2nd Annual K.I.N.G.’s Mother-Son Banquet on Feb. 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Virginia Cook Building, 800 MLK Drive, West Point, Ga. Donations are welcome.
A Valley Bridal Show will be presented by Gator Media and the Hampton Inn on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 1-4 p.m. Free admission and door prizes.
The Chambers County Commission Rules, Ways and Means Committee will meet at 2 p.m. CST on Monday, February 26, 2018. The Human Resources Committee will meet at 2:45 p.m. on the same day. Both meetings will take place in the Commission office, located in the Courthouse in downtown LaFayette.
At 6:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, a meeting will take place in the fellowship hall of the Shawmut Nazarene Church, located at 3105 29th Boulevard in Valley, to discuss forming a Junior League for women in the Chambers County area. The Chambers County Education Retirees Association will meet during the noon hour on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Cotton Duck in Valley. Rev. Mark McGee, chaplain for Chattahoochee Hospice, will talk about dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Mrs. Betty King of Valley was the winner of the Valentine basket given away by the A.D. Robinson Chapter No. 544, Order of the Eastern Star. Proceeds from the drawing will go toward scholarships.
The Chambers County ADC will meet at 6 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Goodsell United Methodist Church in Lanett.
The Head Start program for the Chambers-Tallapoosa region is now taking applications for the 2018-19 program year. A child can be enrolled once they are three years of age. Children with disabilities are also accepted. You will need the following to enroll your child: (1) income verification, (2) copy of their birth certificate, (3) immunization record (blue slip), (4) copy of recent Medicaid card, (5) copy of Social Security card, (6) physical and dental check up. Chambers County Library Travelers has open registration for an excursion to the Springer Opera House in Columbus Ga. to attend West Side Story on March 16. Black History Tour 2018 will be taking place on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the King Center in Atlanta, Ga.
