In the final Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings before the start of the postseason, four teams from Chambers County were ranked in the top-10 of their individual rankings.

The LaFayette boys basketball team is still the No. 1 team in 2A, as the Bulldogs sit 24-0 with two games remaining on the schedule.

In the past week of play, the Bulldogs traveled to Dadeville and Woodland, winning both games handily. In Wednesday’s game, LaFayette defeated Dadeville 81-67. It defeated Woodland 64-52 on Thursday, finishing area play 6-0 in their area.

The Lanett boys basketball team remained the No. 6 team in 1A. The Panthers won all four of their games this past week, finishing undefeated in area play. They defeated Eufaula 67-62 on Thursday and followed up with a 78-46 win against Loachapoka on Friday. On Saturday, the Panthers avenged their season-opening loss, as they defeated Booker T. Washington 64-58. They defeated Wadley on Monday, winning 62-45 after a slow start.

The Chambers Academy boys basketball remained the No. 7 team in AISA as they sit 15-3 on the season. They defeated Restoration 49-43 on Saturday on the road and defeated Cornerstone by 10 on Tuesday.

On the girls’ side, Springwood remained the No. 8 team in AISA. The Wildcats split their two games this past week. They defeated Lakeside on the road 40-23 but lost to  Lee Scott 63-36.
