A 6-year-old girl was flown for medical treatment after being attacked by a dog Sunday night on Butts Mill Road near Pine Mountain.
The Troup County Marshal’s Office could not locate the black and white dog on Sunday night but was continuing the search on Monday morning. The little girl was playing in her yard with her father around 5 p.m. when he went inside for a brief moment, according to Marshal Lonza Edmondson.
The girl suddenly ran in crying, saying that a dog had come out of the woods and attacked her, Edmondson said.
The breed of dog is unknown.
The girl was flown to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. The severity of her injuries was unclear on Monday morning. Edmondson said if the dog is found it’ll be quarantined for 10 days as it’s checked for Rabies. He also said if the dog has an owner, they could be cited and possibly be responsible for the medical bills.
