MR. FRED OSBORN

VALLEY — Mr. Fred Nelton Osborn, 87, of Valley, Ala. died Sunday February 18, 2018 at his residence at the Lakewood Assisted Living in Valley. Mr. Osborn was born in Penton, Ala. May 16, 1930 to the late Walter Osborn and the late Pearl Ragsdale Osborn. He was a man who loved God and was faithful to his church, family, and community. He was a longtime resident of the Abanda community and member of the Abanda Methodist Church, where he served many years as Sunday school superintendent and had over 30 years of perfect attendance. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Abanda Volunteer Fire Department. During his life, Fred was a self-employed logger, cattleman, and farmer and later worked for many years with NAPA Genuine Motor Parts in LaFayette. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST on Wednesday Feb. 21, 2018 at the Abanda Methodist Church in Abanda with burial to follow in the Tatum Family Cemetery in Milltown with the Rev. Tony Dean, the Rev. Mark Rasbury and the Rev. Mark McGee officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m., prior to the service. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lavonia Osborn of Valley; one daughter, Cherie (Tim) McCain of Valley; one son, Glenn (Alison) Osborn of Valley; four grandchildren, Brent Osborn, Caleb Osborn, Ruslan McCain, and Leah McCain; a sister, Loretta (W.R.) Windsor of Roanoke, Ala., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Lucille Berry, Dawson Osborn and Annie Dabbs.
