The Alabama Sports Writers Association released the boys’ all-state basketball teams, and Chambers County was well represented.

Both Lanett and LaFayette led all Chambers’ schools with two selections.

For the Panthers, junior point guard Kintavious Dozier was named to the 1A second team. He averaged 26 points, which led the county, while collecting four rebounds and dishing out five assists a game. Senior center Zameron Boozer was selected to the 1A third team. In his last year as a Panther, he averaged 14 points and nine rebounds a game.

Corey Boston and Tae Burton were each named for LaFayette. Burton was named to the 2A first team. His scoring average jumped from 12 points as a junior to 19.2 points as a senior. He also collected 5.1 rebounds a game while averaging 4.2 assists. Boston was named to the 2A third team. He averaged 15.1 points a game and dished out 6.6 assists a game while collecting 4.4 steals a game. 

Chambers Academy point guard Payton Allen was named to the AISA second team, while Springwood forward Francis Okeyia was named to the third team.

Allen led the Rebels to the AISA Class A State Championship game. He averaged 19.4 points a game while collecting 8.2 rebounds a game.

Okeyia was a key part of the Wildcats turnaround. After finishing winless the previous season, the Wildcats reached the first round of the AISA Class A playoffs. He averaged a double-double, scoring 19.6 points and grabbing 11 rebounds a game. He also averaged 6.7 assists a game.
