Mrs. Betty Jean “Mama Hood” Hood, age 87, of Lanett passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at her residence.
Hood was born on May 26, 1932 in Langdale, to the late Everett Stonewall Fetner and Elsie Mathis Fetner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hood and her daughter, Shirley Davis.
Mama Hood loved to cook and bake and enjoyed watching others enjoy what she had cooked or baked. She loved family gatherings, spending time with her family, and making flower arrangements.
She retired from the Shawmut School after many years of service as the lunchroom manager.
She is survived by her children, Peggy (James) Farr, Dewey (Penny) Hood; grandchildren, Shane Farr, J.B. (Heather) Davis, Kimberly (Daniel) Bozeman, Jason (Leslie) Hood, Kristine (Jacob) Duffie, Rebecca Butler; 10 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mike Davis; special friends and neighbors, Debby and Ricky Cannon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Due to the current gathering restrictions, funeral services will be privately held.
