Mrs. Edna Laney DeLoach of Valley passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Phillip Hunt. She was 101 years old. DeLoach, or Ms. Edna as she was often referred to, was born on Sept. 2, 1918, in Langdale to the late Seaborn and Jessie Mae Blankenship Laney.

DeLoach is survived by her two daughters, Sandra (Phillip) Hunt and Debbie (Shannon) Chandler; Grandchildren, Todd Hunt, Tara Shepherd, Torrie (Alex) Hunt, and Josh (Joanna) Harry; Great-grandchildren, Lauren (Jordan) Johnson, Lindsey Shepherd, Hunter Shepherd, Herrington Hunt, Hallston Hunt, Michael Hunt, Mason Hunt, Emma Harry, and Parker Harry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glenn Laney, and her precious husband Charlie.

DeLoach helped open the Holiday Inn in Lanett. She was over housekeeping, where she worked until her retirement DeLoach was a faithful member of Fairfax First Baptist Church and was previously a member of Valley First Baptist. DeLoach was a fine Christian woman. She loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren so very much. She loved big. She never left you, even if you were a stranger, without telling you that she loved you. She loved to cook for her family and made the best pound cake you’ve ever eaten. DeLoach loved spending time and talking with her friends and her family.
