Roger McDonald is heading back to southeast Alabama, as the former Valley football coach will now be on the Dadeville sidelines starting in August. He replaces Richard White, who had coached the Tigers for 20 years, winning 138 games.

In the 2020 season, he will face Beulah for the first time since 2003. Overall, McDonald coached teams are 2-0 against Beulah, as they have outscored the Bobcats 81-0 in the two matchups.

McDonald coached the Rams from 2005-08. In that  45-game span, the Rams were 30-15 and reached the second round of the 5A playoffs twice. McDonald’s final year with the Rams was the team’s best, as they finished 10-2 en route to winning their first regional championship since 1995.

McDonald left Valley High School for Carrol High School in Ozark. After a slow start in his first two years, McDonald took the Eagles to the playoffs in 2015 and 2016, reaching the second round both years.

McDonald also coached Beauregard from 2001-2003, finishing with an 18-13 record with two playoff appearances.
