Sales Tax weekend starts Friday

Alabama’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday begins Friday, July 17 at 12:01 a.m. and will continue through midnight on Sunday, July 19.
There are several items that will be exempt from the state’s sales tax. Chambers County will be participating in this sales tax exemption, according to the Alabama Department of Revenue website.
Here are some items that will be exempt from state sales tax:
Clothing – $100 or less, per article of clothing.
Computers, Computer software and school computer supplies – a single purchase with a sales price of $750 or less.
School supplies, school art supplies and school instructional material – sales price of $50 or less, per item (Noncommercial purchases).
Books – sales price of $30 or less, per book (Noncommercial purchases).
