The fans in LaGrange High School’s gym got a chance to see a reunion of former teammates as Valley seniors Quez Trammell, DJ Russell and Demarice Farrow and Lanett senior Kintavious Dozier led the way for the Alabama all-star team in its 100-81 win against the Georgia all-star team in Friday’s Alabama/Georgia All-star game.

“I felt the energy,” Russell said. “It’s so fun to play with the people that I’m used to and who I’ve been with since the beginning. It was fun to reunite, especially for one last time.”

“It felt amazing playing with the four seniors again. I really missed it,” Farrow added.

All four of the players from Chambers County started the all-star game and raced out to a double-digit lead before the next group of all stars entered the game. They dominated the game, as Dozier was hitting 3s, Trammell was throwing down dunks off alley-oops, while Russell was scrapping in the paint. Farrow added points as a slasher.

Alabama never trailed in the game, but halfway through the first 22-minute first quarter, Alabama’s lead started to decrease, as Georgia made a strong run to end the half.

The combination of Dozier and Trammell dominated to start the second half, as Dozier would either score off a 3-point shot or dribble past his defender, while Trammell continued to show his explosiveness, throwing down about 13 dunks in the game.

“They think we can’t compete with Georgia players. I don’t know why though,” Dozier said. “At the end of the day, you have to be a dog.”

Trammell, who had just competed in Valley’s track meet, finished as the game’s MVP. Before playing, Trammell also won the dunk contest, winning with a dunk that he tomahawked as he floated through the air a step past the free-throw line.

“Tiring, very tiring,” Trammell said of his performance.

“He’s a freak of nature,” Russell added of his teammate.

Along with reuniting with the former Valley class, the four players from Chambers County were joined by several Auburn High School players, Opelika High School, Loachapoka  and Notasulga, many of whom have played with several if not all the Chambers County athletes.

“We know all of them,” Russell said. “When I played with them, I felt the same energy. It didn’t change. We were just out there having fun.”
