Valley reports

VALLEY — Three people were arrested in Valley on Tuesday. According to Valley Police Department reports,

Arthur Tucker, 38, of West Point, Ga. has been charged with failure to appear in court to answer a traffic-related charge;

Cody Glover, 22, of Valley has been charged with theft of property, fourth degree, and

Adrian Ryan Thomas, 25, of Valley has been charged with bail jumping, second degree.

In incidents being investigated by Valley officers, duty to give information and render aid was reported on the 4800 block of 20th Avenue, and theft of property, fourth degree, reported on the 4500 block of Fairfax Bypass.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE reports

LaFAYETTE — One person was arrested in Chambers County on Tuesday. According to a Chambers County Sheriff’s Office report,

Megan Merrick, 29, of Dania Beach, Fla. has been charged with the chemical endangerment of a minor.

There were 163 inmates in the Chambers County jail this morning.

LANETT reports

LANETT — Officers with the Lanett Police Department are investigating a number of incidents that were reported on Tuesday, including:

criminal mischief, third degree, reported on the 1400 block of 57th Avenue SW;

domestic violence, third degree, reported on the 3800 block of 32nd Street SW;

theft of property, fourth degree, reported on the 1400 block of South Gilmer Avenue;

theft by deception, third degree, reported on the 1400 block of South Gilmer Avenue, and

the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle reported in the 5100 block of 38th Street SW.

WEST POINT reports

WEST POINT — Officers with the West Point Police Department are investigating several incidents that took place on Tuesday. They include reports of:

theft by shoplifting on East 10th Street;

criminal trespassing on Frank Hall Jr. Street, and

criminal damage to property reported on Highway 29.

TRAFFIC FATALITY

OPELIKA — A two-vehicle head-on collision Monday about 5:47 p.m. CDT in the 3400 block of West Point Parkway, Opelika, claimed the life of 25-year-old Taylor Alexandra Webster of Auburn and sent the driver of the other vehicle to the hospital with serious injuries.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced Webster dead at the scene at 6:40 p.m. Webster died instantly from multiple blunt force injuries. Neither Webster nor the other driver are believed to have been wearing seatbelts. The other driver was airlifted by Lifesaver helicopter to Piedmont Columbus Regional with serious injuries.

It appears that Webster was traveling north On West Point Parkway when she apparently ran off the side of the roadway, over corrected and came
back across the highway into the oncoming lane, striking a pickup head-on. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident. The accident remains under investigation by the Lee
County Coroner’s office and Opelika police.
