LaGRANGE, Ga. — Around 11:32 a.m. on Monday, deputies and investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Vernon Ferry Road, regarding a female that had just been attacked and cut by a male at the residence.
Upon arrival they met with a female victim who stated that she and her husband, Eddie Siggers, 44, were arguing when the husband became very angry and cut her on the face resulting in multiple wounds and also biting her on the forearm. Prior to deputies’ arrival, the suspect the fled the location in an unknown direction.
The victim was transported to Wellstar West Georgia for treatment of her injuries. Several deputies began checking the immediate area for the suspect for over an hour with no contact. Around 1 p.m. deputies were meeting back at the incident location and heard what sounded like glass breaking in the rear of the residence and found a window had been broken out and a ladder underneath the window. At that point deputies entered the residence believing that the suspect had returned.
Once inside they found Eddie Siggers running down a hallway toward a side door. After giving verbal commands to Siggers to stop, in which he refused, the deputy deployed his Taser.
Due to the fact that the suspect was wearing a thick coat, the Taser prongs did not make adequate contact and Siggers continued toward the door but before getting it, deputies were able to take him into custody following some resistance.
Siggers was transported to the Troup County Jail and charged with the following: aggravated assault, violation of a temporary protective order, and obstruction of an officers.
