The Chambers County Alabama Democratic Conference will meet at 6:30 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 29th at Goodsell United Methodist Church in Lanett. All members are encouraged to attend.
Electronic recycling will be taking place at the Chambers County Highway Department April 9-12 and at the Valley Farmers’ Market pavilion on April 13 and 14. There will be no cost to do this, and it will be an ideal time to dispose of unwanted items.
The City of Valley is looking for civic groups, businesses, churches and friends to come and help us fill up the garbage cans in Valley and to rid Valley of trash! People can help by being at Valley Community Center at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 14.
The City of Lanett Recreation Department will host an Easter egg hunt at Morgan-Washburn Stadium at 6 p.m. EDT on Thursday, March 29, 2018. It’s for children in the 4-10 age group.
Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 20 will be having an Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. EDT on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Rocky Point Beach on West Point Lake. There will be over 3,000 eggs and 100 prize eggs. There will be four age divisions: three years of age and younger, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.
The 68th annual Fredonia Barbecue will be taking place at the Fredonia Clubhouse on Saturday, April 7, 2018.
GriefShare, a special help seminar and small group support for people experiencing grief and loss, will be held on Sunday evenings at The Bridge Church beginning March 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. CDT for 13 weeks excluding Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Beginning April 6, Bradshaw Library will offer a 4-week course, “Lifting the Veil: Tuskegee’s Important Role in History” with Dana Chandler, Director of Archives at Tuskegee University. Lectures include: Booker T. Washington, Extension in Tuskegee, Clinton J. Calloway and the Development of the Rosenwald Schools and G. L. Washington and the Founding of the Tuskegee Airmen. The Chambers County Commission will have a work session to discuss the county branding initiative at 3:30 p.m. CDT on Monday, April 9, 2018. The work session will take place in the Commission office in the courthouse in downtown LaFayette. The Commission’s Public Facilities and Infrastructure Committee will meet at 3 p.m. CDT in the Courthouse.
At 10 a.m. EDT on Thursday, April 19, a brief celebration of life ceremony will be taking place at the flagpole in front of EAMC-Lanier Hospital. This is in celebration for those whose lives have been extended through organ donation and in honor of donors.
Sing to Remember, a benefit concert for the Alzheimer’s Association, will be held at 6 p.m. CDT on Saturday, March 31st at the Roanoke City Auditorium. A $12 donation will be asked at the door. Performing will be the Exhorters and the McKameys, who are from the Valley area.
