Early Easter

Celebrating Easter got off to an early start in the local area with some egg hunts.
A most unusual egg hunt took place at Valley Community Center. Kids in the 2 to 12-year-old age group gathered plastic eggs off the surface and from the bottom of the Community Center pool.
At 6 p.m. on Thursday, kids in the 7 to 12 age group gathered eggs on the football field at Morgan-Washburn Stadium in Lanett. Three-year-old Mariana Lopez was ecstatic over filling her basket with plastic eggs. The Lanett Recreation Department placed 4,500 plastic eggs on the field, and they were quickly swooped up by a large crowd of excited children.
Participants in the Valley Senior Center program set a good example that you’re as young as you feel – they hunted eggs Thursday morning on the center lawn. From left, are Margaret Ennis, Marilyn Suttles, Joyce Fancher, Ann Lane, Tommie Brown and Ann Bullock.
