West Point Active Life Center is a Recreation Center for independent adults 55+. We provide a $2 lunch for those over 60 as well as Activities, Games, Billiards, Quilting, Trips, Exercise Classes and every Wednesday we have FREE BINGO at 10:30 AM. Starting on Thursday, April 19th, the Chambers County Lanett Annex will no longer be open during the lunch hour. The operating hours will be 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. EDT and 1:30-5 p.m. EDT.
A fish fry and bake sale will be held in Standing Rock, Ala. from noon till 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday, April 21. Plates will be $10 each and will include catfish filets, cole slaw, hushpuppies, and French fries. For tickets, call (706) 586-0252. Proceeds will go to the Standing Rock Community Building Project. Drive-through pick-ups will be available at the Dodgen home, located on a hill off County Road 278 on the east side of Standing Rock.

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, Inc. will have a blood drive at the West Point Presbyterian Church from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 22nd.
GriefShare, a special help seminar and small group support for people experiencing grief and loss, will be held on Sunday evenings at The Bridge Church beginning March 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. CDT for 13 weeks excluding Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
The regular quarterly meeting of the Chambers County Recreational Board of Directors scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018 has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 24. 2018 at 6:30 p.m. (5:30 Central Time) at the Chambers County Cattlemen’s Association building at the Chambers County Agricultural Park in LaFayette.
The Valley High School Combined Classes will meet at Bradshaw-Chambers County Library at 4 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 7th. This is a planning meeting for the annual picnic, which will be taking place on Saturday, June 2nd at Langdale Methodist Church. The Johnson and Barnes family reunion meeting will take place at 5 p.m. EDT, Saturday, April 22nd at the home of Rev. L.Z. Johnson Jr.
The Chambers County Commission’s Human Resources Committee will meet at 9 a.m. EDT (8 Central Time) Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at County Attorney Skip McCoy’s law office, located at 117 North Lanier Avenue in Lanett.
Lanett High School will have an academic signing day at 9:30 a.m. EDT Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in the school auditorium. It will be similar to a signing ceremony for athletes but will be spotlighting students who have excelled in the classroom and plan on continuing their educations at the post-secondary level.
