LANETT — Rashad Milligan has been named the new sports editor of the Valley Times-News and its affiliated publications. He replaces Sam Chandler, who left the company on friendly terms Friday, May 4. Milligan began work in Lanett on May 9, and will move to the Valley area in the coming weeks.
Milligan, who is coming to the Greater Valley Area from Atlanta, spent the past year working for the Douglas County Sentinel in Douglasville, Ga. as a reporter.
He has also spent time working as a freelance reporter with Rolling Out magazine in Atlanta.
During his school years, Milligan assisted in production at 1380 AM WAOK in Atlanta, as well as working as an editor and reporter for a number of university media outlets.
“Rashad came highly recommended during our search,” Steven Thomas, managing editor of The Valley Times-News, said. “He is skilled in a number of areas and will make an immediate and positive impact on our paper.”
Milligan is a graduate of Georgia State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.
“I’m absolutely stoked to hit the ground running and get to work in the Greater Valley Area,” Milligan said. “For so many months, I hoped and dreamed of covering sports full-time, and now that dream has finally been realized.”
