LANETT —Mrs. Joyce Alsabrook Gibson, 78, of Lanett passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Bethany House in Auburn, Ala.
Mrs. Gibson was born on February 6, 1940 in Randolph County, Ala. to the late William Dawson and Fannie Lou Eva Rollins Alsabrook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Willard Gibson; her sister, Sue Williams; brothers Felton and Melton Alsabrook and her brother-in-law, Dolphus C. “Buddy” Williams.
Mrs. Gibson retired from The Valley Times News after 18 years in the circulation department.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching television, and listening to Southern Gospel music.
She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir until her health began to decline.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Allen (Lee Ann) and Roger Allen; her daughter, Rhonda Gibson; grandchildren Robyn (Trent) Cain, Ryan Allen, Kellie Allen and Dustin Allen; great-grandchildren Maddux and Mason Cain; her sister, Glynnis Jackson; sister-in-law, Danna Lindsey Alsabrook and a dear friend, Glynda Denton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 2 p.m. EDT at Victory Baptist Church with interment following in Resthaven Cemetery. The Rev. Larry Vinson will officiate. Her family will be receiving friends at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. EDT.
