Springwood’s girls basketball team traveled to Chambers Academy and dominated the Lady Rebels 54-22.
The Lady Wildcats were in control of the game from the opening tipoff. Springwood jumped out to a 20-6 lead after the first period and never let up from there.
“Offensively, they’re sharing the ball,” Springwood coach Lisa Sampson said. “They’re taking high percentage shots, and they’re rebounding the heck out of it.”
Shalexia Little and Tori Patillo have become a dominant duo for the Wildcats, and that was evident on Thursday night.
Little finished the game with 24 points, with 19 of those points coming in the first half. Patillo poured in 19 points of her own.
“We talked about them playing faster,” Sampson said. “Last time we played them, to me they looked a little slow. They played fast and that’s what you get. They’re both special players.”
Both teams struggled from behind the arc in the game. The Lady Rebels missed both of their attempts, and Springwood connected on just eight of its 24 attempts.
Olivia Daughtery led Chambers Academy with 12 points. Madison Stanford and Lizzie McManus each had four points apiece.
The win pushed Springwood’s record to 9-1 on the season, while the loss dropped Chambers Academy to 1-8 on the season. Springwood faces Lafayette Christian at home on Friday, and the Lady Rebels face Macon East on the road on Tuesday.
