Chambers Academy’s struggles on the hardwood continued on Tuesday as the Rebels fell to Lowndes Academy 53-30.

Early on, it looked to be anyone’s game. Chambers Academy controlled most of the first period before Lowndes stormed to take the lead late in the period.

Then, Lowndes Academy completely dominated the second period. Lowndes went on a 17-2 run that lasted six minutes and took a 35-14 lead into halftime.

Lowndes Academy piled on that lead and took a 48-20 lead into the fourth period. Both teams emptied their benches in the final period as the game was out of hand.

The Rebels had a tough time keeping Clayton Hussey away from the rim. Hussey was the leading scorer with 26 points in the game, none of his points came from behind the arc.

Jake Reaves was inserted into the starting lineup for Chambers Academy and he came out on fire. Reaves hit two three-pointers in the first period and finished the game with eight points.

Austin Brooks followed Reaves with six points. Grey Hayley added four points for the Rebels while Brody Estes added three points. TJ Daniels, Ryan Smith and Hunter Andrews each added two points.

Chambers Academy has the rest of the week off as their next matchup is against Hooper Academy on the road on Dec. 28.
