Residents will want to plan for their Christmas day festivities, with many businesses and offices closed.
Last-minute shopping and shipping of gifts may be difficult with post offices being closed on Christmas Eve and day. They will also be closed on New Year’s Eve and the first of the year. Regular hours and mail delivery will resume the Tuesday following the holidays.
Shopping should also be done early, as the big retailers will be shut. The Walmart Supercenter, Kroger and Givorns will all close early on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. ET. The three stores will be closed on Christmas Day. They will resume normal hours through the New Year.
The offices for Chambers County, City of Lanett, West Point, LaFayette and Valley are closed on Dec. 25, 26 and 31, as well as Jan. 1. Residents who have trash pick up the day of a holiday will have to wait one more day for their bins to be emptied. So, if the normal pick-up day is Tuesday, it will be Thursday this week.
The famous Valley Merry-go-round will take its last spin of the year on Christmas Eve. It will have its regular hours until then. On Sundays, the Merry-Go-Round is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
