The Lady Panthers continued their hot streak as the team completely dominated area foe Reeltown at home 64-14. 

The game was still undecided after one period, with Lanett holding a 17-8 lead going into the second period. Then, the Panthers took complete control of the game in the second period. 

Lanett started the period on a 13-0 run, and the team outscored the Rebels 17-4 to take a 34-12 lead into halftime. 

Laila Lancaster dominated the second period. The star center found her stroke from the midrange and scored eight of her 12 points in the period. 

The Lady Panthers came out with more dominance in the third period as the team completely stifled Reeltown’s offense.
Lanett put the pressure on in the period and consistently got out in transition, outsourcing the Rebels 24-0 in the period. 

A running clock shortened the final period as the Panthers outscored Reeltown 6-2 with the starters out of the game. 

Nakeriona Heard and Christiana Brock led the offense in transition as the two continually picked the Rebels’ pockets. As a sophomore, Heard has taken on the responsibility of facilitating Lanett’s offense with help from her running mate Brock. 

Heard finished the game with eight points while not playing in the fourth period. Brock finished the game with 11 points. 

“They’re very aggressive,” Lanett coach Charlie Williams said. “Sometimes it gets them in trouble because they go too fast and have turnovers. When they have it clicking, they’re real hard to stop. They’re a good combo.” 

Cameron Boozer has developed to give Lanett another threat in the paint alongside Lancaster and MaKiah White. Boozer finished the game with 11 points. White finished with six points in the game. 

The win on Thursday pushed Lanett’s winning record to 11-4 on the season, and the Panthers are now 2-0 in area play. Lanett’s win streak currently sits at four games. Up next for Lanett is a matchup with Horseshoe Bend on the road on Jan. 16. 

“They’ve been progressing really well from Christmas break until now,” Williams said. “Getting some good play from some girls off my bench, starting to create some depth that I wanted to see.”
