The Lady Bulldogs mounted a miraculous comeback on Wednesday as LaFayette downed Reeltown 38-37 at home.
With just a minute to go in the game, the Rebels seemed to be leaving with a road area win. Then, the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run in less than 30 seconds.
LaFayette connected on a three with less than 50 seconds left to cut the lead to three. Then, the Lady Bulldogs forced a turnover on the ensuing inbound pass. Then, soon-to-be local legend, Andereka Williams connected on a three plus the foul. Williams then hit the ensuing free throw to give the Bulldogs a one-point lead with 43 seconds left.
The entire game was about as back and forth as it gets in high school basketball. After one period, LaFayette held a 5-2 lead. Then, the Rebels took control of the game to take a 14-10 lead at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs found momentum on offense in the third period and took the lead back with 2:19 left. Then, Reeltown stole the momentum as the Rebels took the lead on a layup as time expired.
Jayla Hooks led the way for LaFayette with 12 points, five steals and four rebounds. Aronique Kyles followed Hooks with 11 points, four rebounds and four steals.
Williams came up clutch when the Lady Bulldogs needed a basket, and she finished with seven points in the game.
LaFayette will stay at home for the next matchup as the Lady Bulldogs host rivals Lanett on Friday.
