WEST POINT — Murder warrants have been released for three West Point men in connection with a Wednesday evening shooting that left one dead.
Octavious Bridges, 24, Trent Murphy, 24, and Eric Bridges, 25, all of West Point, are sought in connection with the death of Reggie Pearson, 50, of Valley.
At approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, members of the West Point Police and Fire departments responded to the 1000 block of Dogwood Circle, concerning a subject sitting on a porch with a firearm. Upon arrival, they discovered a black male sitting on the porch, unresponsive, having suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
He was identified shortly after, with Troup County Coroner Jeffrey Cook pronouncing him dead at 9:02 p.m.
West Point Police Captain Robert Fawley said currently investigators believe Pearson was meeting with the three men for a narcotics transaction.
“Evidence shows the three men attempted to rob Pearson and he was shot,” he said. “Pearson succumbed to his injuries and the three fled.”
Assistance in the investigation was called in to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Troup County Coroner’s Office.
“His body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for autopsy,” Cook said.
In a Thursday early afternoon Facebook post, the police department named all three men, saying they were wanted for murder.
“We are asking anyone with any information, no matter how small or even hearsay, to call us,” Fawley said. “Also, if anyone sees them, call 911 immediately. Do not confront them. They are considered armed and dangerous.”
The captain added that while the investigation is still ongoing, he could say that multiple sources contacting the department led to the identification of the three men.
