Lady Rams fall at home against Handley

Valley softball struggled on Thursday as the Rams fell to Handley 16-0 in a game that was ended after just three innings.
The Tigers were rolling early as Handley pushed across 14 runs in the opening inning.
Payson Meadows got the start for the Rams and was pulled after the first six runs from Handley. Reese Riley relieved Meadows in the inning. Meadows was put back in the circle in the top of the second inning.
As an eighth grader, Meadows has started on the varsity and junior varsity squad this season. On Thursday, Meadows gave up nine hits and 11 earned runs. Riley allowed four hits and three earned runs in ⅔ of an inning.
Mariana Whaley drove in the final two runs of the game in on a single in the top of the third inning.
Nevaeh Crane and Alyssa Letson led the Rams at the plate with a hit apiece.
The loss dropped Valley’s record to 2-5 on the season. Up next for the Lady Rams is a matchup on the road against Beauregard on March 5.
