The Valley Rams continued to excel on the mound and on the defensive side on Thursday as they beat Holtville 3-0 at home. 

In a game where runs were at a premium, the Rams were able to take control of the game early on. Valley got on the board in the bottom of the second inning. After CJ Chambley led the inning off with a single, Tyler Monteith then roped a double into left field to drive in the first run of the night. 

The Rams kept it going at the plate in the bottom of the second inning as Seth Hammock drove Monteith in with a single and an error by the left fielder. 

Valley added an insurance run late in the game when Jackson Sanders hit a solo home run over the right field fence to give the Rams a 3-0 lead. 

The Bulldogs were able to get runners on base during multiple different junctures on Thursday, but Valley’s stingy pitching staff was able to turn Holtville away. 

Chambley got the start and the win for Valley, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out five batters in five innings on the mound. 

Hammock came in to relieve Chambley and in the sixth inning and had a stellar outing. Hammock struck out two batters and allowed just two base runners in two innings of work on the mound. 

Sanders, Chambley and Monteith led the way for the Rams at the plate. Sanders and Monteith went 2-for-3 with one RBI while Chambley also went 2-for-3 on the night. 

The Rams have been on a tear throughout the first month of the season. Valley currently sits at 12-2 with a matchup at home against Callaway on Friday.
