The Springwood Wildcats struggled to get anything going on Thursday night as Springwood lost to Lafayette Christian 13-1 at home.
The Cougars controlled the game from the first pitch as Lafayette Christian scored seven runs in the top of the first inning.
The Cougars carried that hot start over into the top of the second inning as four hits netted four runs and pushed their lead to 13-0.
The scoring steadied from there as Lafayette Christian was held scoreless for the remainder of the game. Springwood did not have much going on offense, but the Wildcats found a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Brayden Moseley scored after a dropped third strike.
Eli Johnson got the start on the mound for Springwood and was only able to last one inning. Johnson allowed seven hits, three walks and seven earned runs.
Austin Hanvey relieved Johnson in the second inning, and he allowed six earned runs, four hits and three walks while striking out one batter. Tucker Sides pitched the last two innings for Springwood and steadied the Wildcats. Sides allowed just two hits and struck out two batters.
Moseley did the most damage for Springwood at the plate as he went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Russell Lauderdale was the only other Wildcat with a hit.
Up next for Springwood is a matchup on the road against Southern Prep Academy on Monday.
