The Lanett Police Department Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division have received
multiple reports of breaking and entering of motor vehicles and theft of property in the month of March
2024.
On the night of March 26 th 2024, Lt. McCarley of the Patrol Division received information that
Gavin Todd was in the 300 block of South 12th Street in Lanett, AL and was possibly armed with multiple
firearms. Lt. McCarey was aware that the Criminal Investigation Division had developed Todd as a
suspect in the vehicle break-ins and thefts. He quickly located Todd and was able to arrest him without
incident. Subsequent to the arrest multiple firearms were recovered from Todd, one of which was
recently stolen from a vehicle. In addition to the firearm, other stolen property from vehicle break-ins
was recovered. Todd was charged with Breaking and entering a motor vehicle and Theft of Property 4 th
Degree, additional charges are expected.
The Lanett Police Department would like to remind citizens to keep their vehicles locked and if
possible, not to store valuables in their vehicles. If suspicious activity is observed please call 911 and
report it.
