Mr. Gene A. Willingham

LANETT — Mr. Gene A. Willingham, 79, a resident of Lanett, Ala., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the EAMC-Lanier Hospital in Valley, Ala.  Funeral services will be held at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2 pm. EDT with Bro. Bill Heath and Bro. Wayne Prickett  officiating.  Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carol M. Willingham; an uncle, Carlis Willingham of Dadeville, Ala. and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Comer and Essie James Willingham, his son, Christopher DeWayne Willingham; brothers Leonard Willingham and Leroy Willingham and sisters Jeanette Meacham, Alice Houston and Betty Jo Standridge.

Mr. Willingham was born in Randolph County, Ala, on September 22, 1938.  He retired from West Point Pepperell and then worked for Piggly Wiggly and Fred’s.  He enjoyed gardening and fishing.  He was a member of Three Pines Baptist Church in Lanett.  He loved his family, his church and his church family.

Pallbearers will be Jody Lewis, Brian Lewis, Michael Mills, Tony White, Jerry Payne and Robby Overby.

Memorial contributions may be made to Three Pines Baptist Church in Lanett.
