Point’s baseball team continued their hot streak on Tuesday as the Skyhawks earned a dominant 10-4 win over Truett-McConnell at home. 

Slade Mink got things started for the Skyhawks in the bottom of the first inning as he hit a ground ball just past the shortstop to score a run. Alex Marquand capped off the first inning for Point as he cranked a double into right field to score Mink. 

Truett-McConnell got the momentum for a brief moment in the top of the second inning as Matthew Redmond drove in a run with a ground out, but the Skyhawks were quick to strike back. Daniel Gonzalez helped Point add to the as he hit a deep fly ball into left field. 

Gonzalez’ hit fell inches short of a home run, but it turned into a double that scored two runs and gave the Skyhawks a 4-1 lead heading into the third inning. 

The Bears fought back again in the third inning as Mikal Mascarello drove in a run with a single before another run scored on a balk to cut Point’s lead to one. 

The Skyhawks took control of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and never relented. Zeb Baird got the inning started for Point as he hit a triple to right field to score a run. Then, Baird scored on a ground out to give the Skyhawks a 6-3 lead. 

The Bears added a run in the top of the seventh inning, but Point continued to pile on from there. Rafael Jackson scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to make it 7-4. 

Point put the final touches on the game in the bottom of the eighth inning as Marquand drove in two runs with a single. Butler finished off the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the inning. 

Gonzalez, Mink and Marquand were dominant at the plate for the Skyhawks. All three hitters finished with three hits and two RBIs. 

Point used a host of pitchers in the game. The Skyhawks deployed 10 different pitchers in total with Austin Tebo coming away with the decision as he allowed no hits or runs and struck out two batters in one inning of work. 

The win pushed Point’s record to 24-14 on the season, and it pushed the team’s winning streak to four games. Up next for the Skyhawks is a doubleheader on the road against Stillman on Friday.
