The Beulah Bobcats needed two extra innings on Friday, but it was all worth it for the Bobcats as they came up with big plays late to walk it off and beat Childersburg 5-4 in a crucial area matchup. 

With one out and runners on the corners, Devin Suggs came up to bat with a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. 

Suggs was 0-for-4 to that point and had been frustrated at the plate. Those struggles did not matter in the moment as Suggs slapped a low pitch past second base to score Brady Blackston and win the game for Beulah.
Beulah had several close calls throughout the game. The Bobcats nearly walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Kason Kalla was called out on a close play at home. Then, Sye Siggers was also called out on another close play at home in the bottom of the ninth. 

Childersburg got the scoring started early with a single to score a run in the top of the first inning. The Bobcats quickly struck back as Wes Grant scored on a passed ball to tie it at one in the bottom of the first inning. 

The Tigers took control of the game of the game in the top of the second inning with a two-run single to make it 3-1. The Bobcats rallied back as Drew Duval scored on a ground out, but Childersburg added another run in the top of the fourth to push the lead back to two. 

Beulah continued to rally throughout the game. Grant helped the Bobcats cut the lead to one with a double to score Duval. Then, Grant drew a walk with the bases loaded to tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth. 

Brady Blackston got the start on the mound for the Bobcats and gave up seven hits and four earned runs while striking out four batters in five innings of work. 

Beulah’s bullpen came up clutch throughout the late stages of the game. Grant relieved Blackston in the sixth inning and struck out two batters in 1 ⅓ innings. Jadin Hancock allowed just one hit while striking out four batters in 1 ⅔ innings. Siggers closed the game out, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two batters in one inning. 

Grant and Siggers also led the way for Beulah at the plate. Grant went 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Siggers went 2-for-5 with one RBI. 

The win for Beulah on Friday could not have come at a better time. The Bobcats and Childersburg are now both 5-2 in area play. Beulah will face the Tigers on Saturday in a doubleheader on the road with a chance at claiming the area championship.
