The Lady Rams struggled again on Wednesday at their home diamond as Valley fell to Randolph County 21-2. 

The Tigers got on the board early with a single before Valley rallied in the bottom of the first. The Rams took control of the game in the bottom of the first as Mackenzie Atkins roped a single through the infield to score Alyssa Letson. Reese Lynch grounded out, but Nevaeh Crane was able to score from third and give Valley a 2-1 lead. 

It was all Tigers from there as Randolph County completely dominated the next two innings. Two hit batters and two singles to start the inning tied the game at two before a grand slam gave the Tigers a 6-2 lead. 

Randolph County’s power kept showing as a solo homerun pushed the lead to five. Five singles and five walks led to Randolph County leading 14-2 before a hit batter and an error gave the Tigers a 16-2 lead to cap off the inning. 

The Tigers added five more runs in the top of the third inning, and the Lady Rams struggled to find success at the plate. Valley got just one baserunner on within their two last-half innings of chances as the game ended in the bottom of the third inning by mercy rule. 

Valley totaled just three hits in the game, with all three coming in the bottom of the first inning. Payson Meadows got the start on the mound and allowed nine hits, five walks and 15 earned runs while striking out two batters in one full inning of action. Letson replaced Meadows during the second inning and allowed five hits, three walks and five earned runs in two innings. 

The Lady Rams’ record now sits at 3-18 on the season. Up next for Valley is a road trip to face a tough Elmore County team on Thursday.
