On April 18, 2024, Chambers County deputies were dispatched to the Cusseta community in reference to a female being struck by a train. The female has not been identified at this time.

Chambers County Sheriff’s Office investigators are on scene and awaiting the arrival of investigators from CSX Railroad. Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson confirmed that the accident will either be investigated by the sheriff’s office or the CSX Railroad.

Everyone is asked to stay out of the area until the investigation is completed. No further details are available at this time.
