The Lady Bobcats got back over .500 on Tuesday as Beulah earned a dominant 11-1 win over Valley at home.
The Lady Rams had the advantage early. Mackenzie Atkins got the scoring started for Valley with a single to drive in Amari Lowe. That was the only slice of momentum for Valley all evening as the Rams did not get another base hit after the top of the first.
Beulah struck back and took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Presley Duck got things started as she drove Kyleigh Morgan in with a single. Duck later scored on a passed ball before Abrianna Green drove in another run with an RBI double to give the Bobcats a 3-1 lead.
The momentum continued to swing in Beulah’s favor in the bottom of the fourth inning as Libby Buchanan drove in a run with a single. With Claire Dubose at the plate, things went completely awry for the Rams. Two runs scored on a passed ball before another run scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-1 all before Dubose drew a walk.
The Bobcats put the final touches on the win in the bottom of the fifth inning. Duck scored on a passed ball before Elizabeth Hancock drove in another run on a single. Clara Burke scored on a passed ball before an error allowed Elizabeth Hancock to score and end the game by mercy rule.
Kenly Yeager got the start in the circle for Beulah and put together a solid performance. Yeager allowed just two hits, one earned run and four free passes while striking out three batters in five innings of action.
Payson Meadows and Reese Riley both spent time in the circle for Valley. Meadows allowed four hits, three earned runs and four walks with one strikeout in four innings. Riley pitched ⅓ of an inning, allowing two hits, three walks and three earned runs with one strikeout.
The Bobcats finished with six hits in the game. Buchanan led the way at the plate with one hit, two RBIs and one walk. Lowe and Atkins led Valley with one hit apiece.
The win pushed Beulah’s record to 12-11-1 on the season. The Bobcats will host Handley on Thursday before hosting the area tournament on Friday and Saturday. Valley fell to 4-21-1 on the season. The Rams travel to face Opelika on Thursday.
