Rebels dominate decisive game three to advance in the playoffs

Chambers Academy faced Southern Academy with its playoff life on the line, and the Rebels completely dominated the Cougars 11-2 in the decisive game three in the second round of the playoffs.
Luke Tarver got the scoring started in the matchup as drove a single through the middle of the infield to score Landon Hand.
Southern Academy rallied in the bottom of the first inning as an error and a fielder’s choice led to two runs.
The Rebels struggled to fight back until the top of the fourth inning. Jon Caulfield knotted things up at two with an RBI single to score Hunter Andrews. Payton Yerta ten put Chambers Academy in front with a two-run double. Tarver helped the Rebels add to the lead with a double to score three runs and give his team a 7-2 lead.
The lead continued to balloon in the late stages of the game. Hand scored on a passed ball in the top of the sixth inning, and the Rebels put the exclamation point on the game in the top of the seventh. Grey Hayley drove in a run with a single before a single from Yerta drove in two more and made it 11-2.
Kole Baker got the start on the mound for Chambers Academy and put together a solid performance. Baker pitched a complete seven innings while allowing just five hits, one earned run and two walks with five strikeouts.
Tarver and Yerta led the way at the plate with four RBIs and two hits apiece. Caulfield pitched in two hits and an RBI while Hand added two hits and three runs.
The win pushed Chambers Academy’s record to 19-14 on the season. The Rebels will face Edgewood Academy in the third round of the playoffs.
