Lady Bobcats earn second in area tournament

The Lady Bobcats came into day two of the region tournament with their backs against the wall, but they were able to earn a split in the doubleheader and clinch a spot in regionals.
Game One: Beulah – 13 Dadeville – 3
The Beulah Bobcats had no trouble dispatching Dadeville 13-3 to advance to the area championship.
Beulah got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning as Abrianna Green drove in Libby Buchanan with a single. Madyson Snedigar brought Green home with a single to make it 2-0.
The Bobcats continued to add to the lead as a fielder’s choice and a ground out made it 4-0 before a double from Maci Wingo added two more runs.
The Tigers showed some fight in the top of the third inning as a single and a sacrifice fly added two runs. One final run scored on a passed ball to cut Beulah’s lead to three.
Green added another run for the Bobcats in the next half-inning with an RBI single. Two walks in the top of the fourth had Dadeville in business, but Kenly Yeager came out of the bullpen and got three outs to strand two runners on base.
Beulah sealed the game in the bottom of the fourth. Claire Dubose cranked a three-run home run to make it 11-3. Then Green added to her tally with a two-run double. Beulah allowed a double in the top of the fifth but got the next three outs to end the game on the mercy rule.
Green led the way at the plate for Beulah as she finished with three hits and six RBIs. Dubose added two hits and three RBIs while Wingo added three hits and two RBIs.
Snedigar got the start in the circle and allowed three hits and two earned runs in three innings. Yeager finished the game, allowing one hit in two innings of action.
Game Two: Beulah – 2 Randolph County – 10
Beulah was on the opposite side of a dominant performance in the area championship as the Bobcats fell to Randolph County 10-2.
The Lady Bobcats got the scoring started early against the Tigers as Snedigar got the scoring started with a single to drive in Buchanan in the top of the first inning.
The Tigers struck back in the bottom of the second inning with a one-run single before scoring another run on a passed ball in the bottom of the third inning.
The Bobcats tied things up in the top of the fourth inning as Snedigar drove in another run with a single, but the Tigers took the game over in the next half-inning.
Randolph County got runners on via a walk and an error before driving a run in with a sacrifice fly. Two singles drove in two more runs before the final run scored on a passed ball to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead.
Four more runs scored in the bottom of the fifth inning as a single scored a run and two more runs scored on wild pitches. One last run came in on a ground out to wrap things up.
Snedigar got the start in the circle for Beulah and allowed five hits, four earned runs and five walks while striking out one batter. Wingo came in for relief and pitched 1 ⅔ innings, allowing one non-earned run.
Snedigar led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Burke added two hits while Buchanan, Green, Duck and Dubose added one hit apiece.
The Bobcats moved to 13-13-1 after Saturday. Beulah will face the winner of 3A-Area 5 on May 8 at regionals in Montgomery.
