ALDOT updating to traffic signals in LaFayette starting Sunday

CHAMBERS COUNTY– The Alabama Department of Transportation will begin upgrading the traffic signal equipment at the intersection of US-431 and 2nd Avenue in the City of LaFayette on Sunday, May 19th at 6 p.m., weather permitting. Workers will be on site each night from Sunday, May 19th to Friday, May 24th between the hours of 6 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Beginning Sunday May 19th ,, there will be no signal controlling traffic at the intersection of US-431 and 2nd Avenue until work is complete. Traffic at this intersection will operate under the following conditions until the new signal is functioning:
- Traffic on US-431 will not be required to stop at 2nd Avenue.
- Traffic on 2nd Avenue will be controlled by stop signs at US-431
Motorists are advised to use extreme caution and pay attention to all signs and warning devices while this work is being performed. While no movement will be restricted at this intersection during work, drivers may consider alternate routes until the new signals are operational.
