The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce (GVACC) is excited to partner with the Chambers County School System with a uniform swap event for the upcoming school year, said Carrie Wood, director of the GVACC in a Tuesday press release.
The uniform swap event is planned for Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET at Bob Harding Shawmut Elementary Gym.
The GVACC and school system are requesting donations of gently used or new uniforms from the community, churches and businesses for the event, according to the press release.
They will accept all school-age sizes as long as they meet the requirements for the CCSD uniform code.
The updated school dress code for the upcoming year is as follows:
4 Collared shirts in navy blue, red or gray
4 Sweater/sweater vests in solid white, black, red, navy blue, khaki or gray
4 Pants, skirts, dresses and shorts in solid khaki, black, gray or navy blue
4 Belts in black, brown, navy blue or clear
Jackets must be in solid colors of white, black, navy blue, red or gray. They may have a small logo on the chest as long as it is no larger than a quarter, with the exception of school logos.
The Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will accept donations from July 8 to July 11 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
The Chamber office is located at 2918 20th Ave, Valley, AL 36854.
“We are in hopes to receive enough uniforms for each child in need, to receive at least two sets each,” Wood said in the press release.
