Perhaps the most patriotic holiday of the year in the United States comes in mid-summer. The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, celebrates the emancipation of the American colonies from British rule.
It’s only fitting that the federal holiday be celebrated in earnest with the help of closures around the community.
Starting at the county seat, the Chambers County Courthouse and Annex will both be closed on Thursday, July 4. On Friday, July 5, the tag, license, and recording services will all be closed at both locations, according to Probate Judge Paul Story.
The Chambers County Revenue Commission and Commission Office will both be closed on Friday as well.
Most city offices will be closed as well. Valley City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday, though the city is hosting its annual fireworks show.
For those looking to get some fireworks of their own last minute, Boom City will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday.
As it is a federal holiday, all United States postal services will be closed on Thursday as well.
While citizens are out enjoying the summer holiday, many local businesses will be closed so that their employees can do the same. Krave Korner will be closed from Thursday to Friday.
Whereas, Gimme Some Sugar in LaFayette will have adjusted hours for the whole week of Independence Day in addition to being closed on Thursday.
Pokey’s 8th Street Grill will be closed Thursday.
