EA released a college football video game on Monday for the first time in 11 years. Chambers County has become heavily represented in college football, and that meant that several local standouts found themselves going digital for the first time.
To nobody’s surprise, former Lanett star Kristian Story is the highest-rated player from Chambers County in the game. Story graduated from Lanett in 2020 as one of the top recruits in the country.
Story then spent four years at Alabama before transferring to Kentucky for his senior year. Story is expected to be Kentucky’s starting free safety in the game.
EA rated Story as an 80 overall. His best attribute in the game is his toughness. Story has a 92 toughness rating. Some of Story’s other ratings in the game are his speed at 80, 90 acceleration, 85 agility, 85 change of direction, 81 awareness, 85 hit power, 87 jumping and 88 stamina.
The highest-rated player from Valley High School was Jaden Hamlin. Hamlin comes in as a an 78 overall defensive tackle after transferring to the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
There is another familiar face on Kentucky’s roster as former Valley star Cam Dooley is listed as a 75 overall free safety below Story. Dooley signed with Kentucky straight out of high school as a four-star prospect and is set to begin his freshman season with the Wildcats.
Dooley’s overall rating being a 75 in the game might be surprising for some, but it is more about his youth. Freshmen rarely get rated highly before they play their first snaps. Most of the top recruits in the country are only rated in the 80s.
Dooley’s best rating in the game is his jumping ability, which comes in at 90. That should be no surprise to local fans as he led the Rams to a state championship on the hardwood as a junior. Speed is another highlight for Dooly, coming in at 89. Dooley also has 86 agility, 83 change of direction, 81 hit power, 90 jumping, 84 stamina and 87 toughness.
Trikweze Bridges is the second highest-rated player in the game from Chambers County. Bridges graduated from Lanett High School in 2019 and spent five seasons at Oregon before transferring to the University of Florida this spring. He logged 53 tackles and four interceptions at cornerback during his time with the Ducks.
Bridges has an overall rating of 79 in the game. His best attribute is his acceleration, which comes in at 93. Some of the other ratings that stand out for Bridges are his 91 speed, 90 agility, 92 change of direction, 80 awareness, 86 press coverage, 92 jumping, 89 stamina and 86 toughest.
Caden Story, the younger brother of Kristian, is the only other athlete from Chambers County to be featured in the new college football video game. Story graduated from Lanett in 2022 and signed with Clemson as a defensive lineman.
Story is a redshirt sophomore and comes in with an overall rating of 78 for the Tigers. Some of his best attributes are his 92 toughness, 82 acceleration, 84 strength, 82 play recognition, 83 block shedding and tackling, 89 pursuit and 91 stamina.
There are several other athletes from Chambers County playing college football that were not included in the game. The rosters are limited to just 85 players per team, and several players from the area are not in this version of the game but could be included in future iterations.
