Severe weather warning issued, hail and 70 mph wind possible

The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a severe weather warning for Chambers County. A severe weather watch will last until 11 p.m. The agency predicts quarter-size hail, gusts up to 70 mph and the possibility of lightning.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southwestern Chambers County in east central Alabama until 530 PM CDT.
* At 424 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Camp Hill,
moving southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD…70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
IMPACT…
Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Auburn, Opelika, Tuskegee, Tallassee, Camp Hill, Notasulga, Milstead, Franklin, Waverly, Reeves Airport, Lake Tuskegee, Auburn University, Tuskegee National Forest, Liverpool, Liberty City, Tallapoosa City, Southern Lake Martin, Loachapoka, Uphapee Creek, and Chewacla State Park.
