The Chambers County Commission approved the renewal of the Chambers County Community Corrections program contract with the Alabama Department of Corrections for 2025. Jetta Wood, director of the CCCP, gave an annual update about the program during the business meeting Monday night.

The contract increased from $98,000 to $116,000 for 2025. One contract change was to increase the weekly fee for ankle monitoring from $30 to $70. 

The program began in 2017 and serves as a community supervision program like probation except that they are state inmates with nonviolent charges. There are 32 similar programs across the state. 

Wood cited the income that has come into the program this year. The average monthly income is around $10,000. There have also been $1400 a month in fees. 

Including placements from Lee County, the program has had total of 40 people in the program since the start of the year. Of that, 14 participants have completed the program and 6 have been terminated. Currently, there are 20 active participants. 

Participants are terminated if they get new charges, become a no-show or otherwise break the program rules. A Chambers County circuit judge will revoke their place in the program on Wood’s recommendation.
