The Valley Sportsplex will not be opening as a shelter due to the Masters Games using the space this week, according to the city recreation director, Laurie Blount. The previously scheduled event is supposed to go through Friday. The American Red Cross has typically used the space as a shelter during severe weather but will be unable to utilize the space due to the games.
