Billy “Bubba” Smedley

Billy “Bubba” Tyrone Smedley, age 55, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on September 24, 2024. He was born in Lagrange, Georgia on April 7, 1969, son of David Smedley and Ann Taylor Smedley. He attended Cross Road Church.

Bubba enjoyed being a dad to his two sons, Gavin and Blake. He enjoyed watching them play their sport of choice and being that “Coach” to give helpful advice. His role as a dad was one he cherished and leaves behind a legacy of love with his children.

One of Bubba’s greatest pleasures was cooking for others and oh how his friends raved over whatever he would cook and bring over.   

He began a tradition many years ago and for 25 years in a row hosted crawfish boils that certainly everyone looked forward to and will be missed in all the coming years. He was always so proud of his designed T-shirts, now keepsakes. He also enjoyed playing golf and watching his Crimson Tide football team.

Bubba was a friend to so many and was truly blessed to have so many of his friends and family by his side during his time of illness.  He was a “true fighter” to the very end.

As we bid farewell to Billy “Bubba” Tyrone Smedley, we do so with the utmost gratitude for the time we shared with him and his memory will forever be a comforting presence.

He is survived by his sons: Gavin Smedley and Blake Smedley; parents: David and Ann Smedley; brother: Brian Smedley.

The family will receive friends at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Heritage Baptist Church on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in Bubba’s honor.
