Mrs. Charmel Wright, 87, of LaFayette, died Monday, September 23, 2024, at Riverside Healthcare Center, Covington, GA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Vines Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. Jerone Fannin officiating. The remains will lie in state at the Chapel from 12:00 p.m. (CST) until the funeral hour. The interment will be in Handy Cemetery, LaFayette. Public viewing will be Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CST) at Vines Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wright was born in LaFayette on August 9, 1937. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Greater Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church, LaFayette, where she served in numerous capacities, such as President of the Missionary Society, Member of the Board of Trustees and Kitchen Committee.

Mrs. Wright worked as a seamstress with the Playtex Corp. She also served as a member of the LaFayette City Council and as an election poll worker for several years. Mrs. Wright was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who enjoyed spreading love through sharing meals, lending a helping hand, and being the matriarch of her family.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her children: Helen Taylor, Covington, GA, Charles Wright, Denver CO, and Joseph Wright, LaFayette; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
