Chambers County celebrated the everyday heroes that don’t wear capes on Wednesday night when the county school board recognized the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year winners for each school. At the meeting, the school board also announced the districtwide TOTY and SSOTY.

Sheila Jones, Director of Curriculum and Instruction K-8, presented the teachers who were honored on the individual school level and announced the districtwide winners. The winners were chosen by a panel of seven judges, some of whom were previous recipients, retired teachers and school board members.

The Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year districtwide was Lera Grubbs from Huguley Elementary School. The Outstanding Secondary Teacher of the Year districtwide was Susan Grizzard from W.F. Burns Middle School. The Outstanding Support Staff of the Year districtwide was Christy Goss from Fairfax Elementary School.
