From what we are seeing thus far, the worst conditions are north of a line from Union Hill to Fredonia.
The further North you go (closer to Randolph line), the worse the conditions are, which is in line with the upgrade from NWS this morning for that area for significant impacts – these will be updated as information becomes available, and/or road conditions deteriorate.
Sheriff Nelson, his deputies, our Highway Departments County Engineer and his team are all out monitoring road conditions this morning and reporting back to our Dispatch and EMA.
Chambers County 267, Veasey Creek Bridge is covered in snow/sleet.
Chambers County 268 near Randolph County line has several slick spots with the bridge over Wehadkee Creek being the worst area.
Use caution when traveling Chambers County 268. Chambers County 278 at Railroad Bridge just before the Church has Ice Accumulation – Use Caution When Traveling 278. Chambers County 266 just before Intersection of the bridge has a light coating of ice and sleet.
U.S. 431 North of Welch Community, and north of that to the county line – White out conditions and roads are snowed over.
Alabama 77 in the Abanda Area is snow covered. Expect road conditions to deteriorate on Alabama 77 the closer you get to the Randolph county line
Chambers County 53 – the Bridge over Chikasanoxee Creek North of Abanda is snow/sleet Covered. Chambers County 266 Bridges over West Point Lake are Beginning to Accumulate Snow/Sleet. Chambers County 241 – is covered in Snow/Sleet and parts of Alabama 77 is iced over.
