Love is in the air in the city of LaFayette as LaFayette Main Street prepares for its third annual Love LaFayette event in February. Back by popular demand is the famous Main Street Food Truck Festival, which will be merging with Love LaFayette this year.
Love LaFayette, an annual February tradition, is an opportunity for the citizens to express their pride and love for their city, according to LaFayette Main Street Director DeAnna Hand.
Already 20 food truck vendors have signed up to participate in the Love LaFayette event on Feb. 7 from 5-9 p.m. CT. Hand said there will be plenty of the community favorites back again, as well as plenty of vendors for those contending with a Love LaFayette sweet tooth.
Let’s Shake On It Milkshakes will be returning for the event.
“We really want to attract visitors to stimulate the growth of tourism here in LaFayette. But also, we have this for our community to show their love back to LaFayette, and strengthen relationships,” Hand said.
Ahead of the festivities, citizens can get in the Love LaFayette spirit by going online and voting for locals in some love-themed superlatives. The “LaFayette Loves Our Locals” Awards are a chance to recognize locals who contribute to the city and represent it well.
From the “High School Sweethearts” to the “Longest Marriage” to “Best Bromance/Sisterhood Award,” there is a chance for everyone to be submitted as a nominee for one or other of the awards.
The awards will be presented at the Love LaFayette Food Truck Festival event on the square.
Nominations must be submitted via the following link before the deadline of Feb. 3:

LaFayette Main Street is a community organization that serves the downtown area by stimulating economic growth, tourism, design elements and more. The city was granted an official Main Street designation in 2022 after a long campaign by a group of citizens.
Over the last few years, the organization has put on community events, supported local business and gone after grants for projects to help beautify the downtown area.
LaFayette Main Street’s most recent project was the commission of the 20 foot long “Welcome to LaFayette” mural.
Over the last year, six new businesses have opened in LaFayette, most if not all of which are members of the LaFayette Main Street organization.
